Baby Sunrose (Aptenia cordifolia) is a member of the Ice Plant type of plants. Also known as the Heartleaf Iceplant, this fast growing ground hugging plant has attractive heart shaped leaves and dainty reddish pink flowers. This plant is perfect for weed suppression as it grows on top of itself and forms a thick mat as it grows, not letting in any light which stops weeds from being able to grow.
The pretty bird and butterfly attracting flowers are held open when the sun shines, and will stay firmly shut on overcast days.
Baby Sunrose prefers a full sun position and requires little water once established. It is very hardy and easy to grow making it suitable for rockeries and low maintenance gardens, and also looks great in hanging baskets.
